Pan Am Gold Medalist Mary Spencer had a great opportunity to yet again participate in the Pan Am Games. This time Mary took the honours of being selected to carry the torch as it made it's way to Windsor City Hall.

“I feel unbelievable,” said Spencer after lighting a cauldron on a stage in front of Windsor City Hall and about 400 cheering people.

“I feel incredible. It’s just amazing to be here in Windsor, in my hometown, in front of all of you, and lighting the flame for the Pan Am Games, it’s awesome.”

“I am proud on behalf of Premier Kathleen Wynne to join the fine folks of Windsor,” said Minister of Sport Michael Coteau.   Coteau met Spencer shortly after he was first elected and recounted the following,

“Four years ago I got to meet her when I was first elected and I was so impressed, she was doing some great work with young people in Toronto and I just want to say to all of our athletes, all of our volunteers, everyone that’s included in making these games such a special event for Canada. Thank you so much for making us proud as Ontarians and Canadians.”

Congratulations Mary Spencer.
