What is AMMACS ? 

The  Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Championships Series was born last weekend Sunday Nov. 3rd at the Terry Miller Recreation Centre in Brampton ON. 

This event was brought to life by Alex Gasson of Peckerd Services who is one of the more Mixed Martial Arts passionate individuals you'll ever meet. The event fills a void on the amateur scene where competitors don headgear, seven ounce MMA gloves and shinguards and go head to head in a one round 5 minute contest. The Advanced Finals consisting of two 5 nminute rounds. Combatants are scored accordingly to strikes by hands or leg kicks and also takedowns by the two present mat judges. Competitors were split up into two divisions Novice, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced and then by weight classes.  Takedown Distribution was honoured to have our Clinch Gear booth  up and running at the event . We found the crowd was more than generous with their conversation and enthusiasm.  A high contingency of clubs from around the surrounding GTA participated at AMMACS 1 and this event will stand as a positive move in the sport of Amateur Mixed Martial Arts. For those of you that missed the event check out the vids http://www.youtube.com/user/splitdraw?feature=watch
